Ambassador Anurag Srivastava is a career diplomat who joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1999. In his last assignment, Ambassador Srivastava was Joint Secretary (Director General) in the Ministry of External Affairs heading the desk dealing with India’s relations with two of its immediate neighbours, Nepal and Bhutan. Ambassador Srivastava has also been the Official Spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs, where as the primary interface of the government with the media, he was responsible for articulating India’s position on key issues of interest in the foreign policy domain.
He has served as India’s Ambassador to Ethiopia and Djibouti in Addis Ababa where he was also concurrently India’s Permanent Representative to the African Union.
